Modern Architecture: New Strasbourg Cathedral, Strasbourg, France by Axis Mundi

Axes Mundi, an architect and designer from New York was invited to design new Strasbourg cathedral, France. His proposal consists a series of unfolded concrete arches were designed to create majestic volumes of light for the interior spaces. Strasbourg is getting some amazing modern architecture.

Above the main entry, a bas-relief of a digitized abstraction of a Gothic cathedral is made to play with the sun. As As the sun rises in the east, it will cast shadows on the facade, and the bas-relief will become visible. During the course of the day it should gradually disappear. The structure is set to be built out of structurally reinforced concrete, limestone, seamed structural glass, bronze, and oak.
